By Leonard Kay Feb 12, 2020 3090

For some jobs, employers or agencies just need a really simple CV. So rather than put off applying for a new job, just  spend 20 minutes that may well change your life for the better.

Basic CV Checklist:

  1. You don’t need to write CV or Curriculum Vitae at the top
  2. Don't include your date of birth
  3. If you’re not sure, keep it simple
  4. Only provide relevant personal information, include phone number and email address
  5. Get a sensible email address
  6. Get someone else (or several people) to check it, for spelling & grammar
  7. Don’t say anything you can’t back up in an interview
  8. Give your career history with the most recent jobs at the top
  9. Stick with fonts such as Arial at font size 12
  10. No longer than 2 sides of A4
  11. Education: If you left school a few years ago, list the amount and the grades you got rather than each individual subject eg ‘5 GCSE’s Grade A-C’

If you are looking to apply for a job that needs something more detailed, we can help you with that too, but sometimes the hardest thing is getting started!

Did you know curriculum vitae is a Latin expression which can be loosely translated as [the] course of [my] life?
